John Foster Snubbed? Fans Cry Foul After American Idol 2025 Finale
In a shocking turn of events, John Foster did not win Season 23 of American Idol — and fans across the nation are not taking it lightly.
Despite delivering some of the most emotional, viral performances of the season — including his heart-wrenching original song “Tell That Angel I Love Her” — Foster fell short in the final vote tally, finishing as a runner-up in a decision many are calling “the biggest upset in Idol history.”
💔 The Fan Favorite Falls Short
From the moment he auditioned, John Foster captured hearts across America with his authenticity, humility, and extraordinary voice. But it was his original ballad, written in memory of two friends who passed away in a tragic accident, that turned him into a household name.
The song skyrocketed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making him one of the rare Idol contestants to top the charts before the finale. Many assumed the win was a lock.
“He’s not just a singer — he’s a movement,” one judge said during Top 10 week.
So when the winner was announced — and it wasn’t Foster — social media exploded.
🧨 #IdolRigged Trends on X
Within minutes of the finale airing, hashtags like #JusticeForJohn, #IdolRigged, and #HeDeservedToWin began trending on Twitter and TikTok.
Here’s what fans are saying:
-
@idoltruth2025: “John Foster had a No. 1 song. He made us cry every week. He brought heart and real artistry — and they gave the win to someone else? Rigged. Period.”
-
@jfsupportteam: “We saw a young man pour his soul into music. He honored his friends. He broke records. And somehow, that wasn’t enough?”
-
@musicfan_mel: “I’m done watching #AmericanIdol. John Foster is the real winner.”
Some fans have even started petitions demanding a recount or voting transparency, with one Change.org page amassing over 50,000 signatures within 24 hours.
🎤 Foster Responds With Grace
Despite the online uproar, Foster has remained gracious. In a heartfelt Instagram post shared just hours after the finale, he wrote:
“I may not have won the title, but I gained something far greater — your support, your love, and the chance to share my story with the world. This is just the beginning. Thank you for believing in me.”
💿 What’s Next for John?
Industry insiders say Foster is already in talks with major labels, with an album and tour expected to be announced soon. Given his massive streaming numbers and passionate fanbase, many believe his future is brighter than ever — title or not.
And one thing is clear: John Foster didn’t need to win American Idol to become a star. He already is one.
🎧 Stream “Tell That Angel I Love Her” now
✨ Final Word
American Idol may have crowned someone else — but if you ask the fans, John Foster is their champion. And sometimes, the biggest winners are the ones who rise after the final vote.

ReplyDeleteHe made this 60 year old grandma glued to her TV just to watch vote abd witness a star being born.
For the future I wish JOHN FOSTER ALL THE BEST
John Foster doesn't need a title. He's always and will always be a winner.
ReplyDeleteIt was rigged and we all know it. John has already won even though he deserved the title!!
ReplyDeleteAGREE 100%
DeleteIt was a shock. Back to not watching American idol again.
ReplyDeleteMe either. 😢
DeleteVery true look at Clay and Ruben. They did it again. Clay is more favored and they gave it to Ruben
ReplyDeleteTrue
DeleteAbsolutely love Clay, and never hear about Reuben. Same with Adam Lambert and Chris Allen. Adam now front man for QUEEN! And also in a Broadway play.
DeleteTrue. same thing with Adam Lambert.
DeleteJohn you are the Winner! Maybe not on Idol, but to us fans! You put your heart and soul into all the songs you sing! I believe you have a great future in country music! Believe in yourself!
ReplyDeleteYou are so correct. John was FAR better than anyone else on the show.
DeleteJohn should have won it's hard to believe he didn't. Not watching anymore,
ReplyDeleteI agree. I’m done with American Idol!!!
DeleteDone with Idol
ReplyDeleteHe will rise up even higher he didn't need the win he already won he is humble and gracious and God has big plans for him that we will all see ❤️🙏
ReplyDeleteHow ??? This could not have been right somebody counted them votes incorrectly.Recount
ReplyDeleteYes! It happens, I was so sure john would win! So easy to listen to love that boy and we will be hearing from him!he's a star!
DeleteI agree. I would like to know the actual count.
DeleteJohn was my winner !
ReplyDeletemine too
DeleteWHAT THE HELL??? Everyone KNOWS John won and will be the Super Star !!
ReplyDeleteJohn is the only reason I started watching after years of NOT WATCHING! Back to NOT watching! John is a far better singer and entertainer than Jamal!
ReplyDeletetotally agree
DeleteMe too…Idol sux
DeleteI am so done with American idol.
ReplyDeleteI won't watch it anymore
Neither will I!! All done with the show. John is the only reason I even watched the show!
DeleteDone with this rigged show! There is no way John Foster did not win!!!! Glad he got noticed out of this sorry show anyway. Honestly John you don’t need this show to go far. They probably would have voted Elvis and George Straight off too. Looking forward to your success without American Idol.
ReplyDeleteJohn Foster is a Country superstar and he will go far singing from his heart. Believe in yourself we do.
ReplyDeleteI definitely think JF should have won. He's extremely talented, humble, high morals, a great
ReplyDeleterole model for young people and a beautiful heart and smile. He will do
well without the title. He has established his own title in the country music world. I wish him the very best.
It is to bad John Foster didn't have someone singing with him instead of Luke B. Jelly Roll was amazing with Jamal. You could see the support not so much with Luke. He didn't help John Fosters votes at all.
ReplyDeleteI agree
DeleteLuke didnt even want to give him a chance Carrie had to tell him too
DeleteI think you should have won I sure voted for you anyway! And I will hear you on the radio anyway!
ReplyDeleteI am done with American idol I think John should have been the winer I was glued to the tv he had my heart ❤️ and I am 81 years old and he has my heart ❤️ and I know he will go far with his voice and the beautiful person he is God Bless you John
ReplyDeleteThis 80 year old great grandma stayed glued to the tv so inspired by John he is a great young man and a great talent. I won’t be watching American Idol anymore. John you will be going places in this world just hold your head up high and God will prevail!!
ReplyDeleteI believe that John had this all the way and it was rigged because they finally wanted a black person to win the title. Jamel was surely not better than John by a landslide. I didn’t think he should have never made it into the top 5 alone win so there was something definitely rigged for sure!!! John will still go a long long way as he’s already a superstar!!!
ReplyDeleteYep
DeleteI wanted Brianna to win, but John 2nd. Definitely not Jamal. Too many runs. 2 others were voted off too early that I thought could win. Audience votes shouldn't carry so much weight. Like DWTS where their personal entourages vote the good dancers off.. judges should count more than audience there. Popular kids, influencers get blocks of votes, unfair. And West Coast can't even vote. Now THAT'S unfair!
DeleteI agree with you, but we must remember it was fan voted, and comments like, “Jamal never should’ve gotten as far as he did, etc.” sound like it wasn’t. Did the show manipulate some things to sway it in Jamal’s direction? I absolutely believe so, because there have been so many complaints about the winner always being a white, country singer. For instance, the “special guests” for the finale! They leaned heavily in Jamal’s favor! It was pretty awful.
DeleteJohn Foster should have been the winner. The show was rigged and I won’t be watching American Idol anymore
ReplyDeletewell said
DeleteI believe you won anyway. You will get a record deal anyway and it will be better off that way
ReplyDeleteI love John but Jamal was my choice..he is an amazing person and singer. I was shocked that he won.. made me cry
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched in years. When my friend told me about John. I started watching and became, one of John's cheerleaders and I'm a young 70. He brought some of the old country music back to life.
ReplyDeleteAmerican idol is losing lot of people after tonight! This was also my last time to watch! There voting is wrong you shouldn't be able to vote more ways then one time per person and only one email address! Change it and I might come back !
ReplyDeleteI agree
DeleteJohn you are the best and you will go far..Keep doing your music..This whole thing was rigged as many have said..Can't wait to buy your first cd...Hang in there and i am praying for you..
ReplyDeleteThis was so wrong. John should have won. Luke was for Jamal which suprises me. Maybe he was afraid of the competition
ReplyDeleteOr maybe he was paid to be, or was told he wouldn’t be back next season if he didn’t.
DeleteThe last 10 contestants were so good any could have won. But I have been voting for John every week. When I vote it is always followed by a statement like, you have voted etc. If I voted too many times it said that. Tonight it accepted my first votes. But when they announced the top two and I voted it never accepted them. I voted again and it never accepted them nor did it tell me that I had voted too many times. I ask others and they had the same experience! I love Jamal too. John is going to be successful anyway. But it makes me worry that this happened. Could it have happened to all of John’s fans?
ReplyDeleteVery same thing happen to me!
DeleteYes I had the same issue!
DeleteI could not vote the 2nd round either .
DeleteThe only thing I can say is laugh all the way to the Bank and your future is already decided
ReplyDeleteI agree he was an is the best on the show the hold very disappointed the way it turn out I am so proud of him he had a smile on his face after he didn't win he knows he is the best hé won any way with out title he was an is a win win we will be seeing him and his music for yes. The one who won name or face will be forgotten within a yr. Very disappointed.
ReplyDeleteHe was robbed this was totally a set up there is not way he should have lost....guess it is BLM.....sick of that B.S. John was 100% better than what was that other guy's name? Highway Robbery. I wish you all the very best in John in life you will do great whether you continue a singing career or go to college to become a Dr.
ReplyDeleteHe should have won, and I will leave it at that.
ReplyDeleteI hope everyone saying it was rigged cast their 30 votes for John every week! It was fan voted, after all!
ReplyDeleteI don’t think it was rigged. I totally voted for John but the other two were fantastic. Any of them could have won! What a bunch of sore losers the voters can be. How do you think that makes the winner feel? They were all good. And to say you will never watch again! What babies! LOL
DeleteI tried to vote on other 2 places but the only vote that I think went through was on idol app
DeleteJohn did win if you ask me. He going to go far. #1 winner for sure. His singing gave me chills. You could feel what he sang even dangling someone else’s song. I’m sure he isn’t worried.
ReplyDeleteHe’s a good sport and congratulated Jamal. He’s a good guy and it shows. I’m for him all the way. My mother said she would never watch American Idol again. She’s 76, I’ve never seen her so upset over a TV show. Way to go John Foster! So sorry for your loss. Your song was beautiful!❤️❤️
I tried to vote the second time for John Foster but it wouldn't let me. So to me they had it rigged.
DeleteI'm from Meridian and I think John should have won. He was the best
ReplyDeleteJohn has already won many things and a title is just a piece of paper. He has many people already looking to sign him up into big business. He's able to call his own shots now. This is a contest for beginners with great talent and John was already making money. Jamal was also a terrific singer and he could sing any song that was given to him. John's niche is Country music and Jamal can become a great R&B singer and he also killed every song he sang. I'm happy for both of them.
ReplyDeleteYes
Deleteit was rigged john won in my book
ReplyDeleteJohn should have won enough said.
ReplyDeleteWho do you hear more on the radio? It’s not Jamar, all well. Who paid for Jamar to win? There were better singers than Jamar. John will be like Adam Lambart a true winner. Adam didn’t win either yet he is a rising star. So yes John Foster you are a rising star.
ReplyDeleteJohn Foster should've won! He was so much better than Jamal and with bringing back the old country music that myself and so many people miss!! He has such a great country voice, is so humble, has a great personality and a heart of gold and that he sings from! I'm very disappointed! He's a Winner in my eyes and will make it big anyway with his talent and with many country stars and his fans and family supporting him!! God has a plan for you John Foster! Keep on believing, stay strong and continue with your singing career! I can't wait to get your 1st CD when I hear about it!! Love you and all your music and your songs bring me to tears!
ReplyDeleteJohn was the winner.it was rigged
DeleteI, too, believe it was rigged. Each night he preformed, he got more votes than the others...then all of a sudden he is the loser. If this is how American Idols select their winners I no longer will be a viewer.
ReplyDeleterigged done with Idol
ReplyDeleteAmerican Idol already knew John has several labels offering him deals, and he would be set to move on with his career, so they rigged it to give Jamal a future, just like these contests always do. John was the clear winner, so they had to rig it. Now we all will see who does what moving forward. My bet is like some of the others, Jamal may make a 1 hit wonder and not be heard of again. John will be the next rising talent and make many songs and awards. It's the way shit happens. Why I don't care to follow these shows anymore.
ReplyDeleteI loved John and wasn't watching the show until I heard his singing. They were all good but I do feel he should have won. But it depends on who is voting and Jamal was a teacher and probably all the kids and their parents voted and all the people in his town. Same thing happens on Dancing with the Stars,!! John will still go far but I do feel very bad for him!
ReplyDeleteLast night's show was way to long, boring and horrible music for the most part. Stick with showcasing the kids on the show and leave all the "special guest" out. They did not add ANYTHING to the program! I feel that there was way too much "sad story----sad backgrounds----sad lives" put into the information of these kids. American Idol should focus on their talent instead of their backgrounds.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Boring. Get to the point
DeleteI certainly do agree with you! Was watching to hear those talented contestants not all that terrible singing! I'm done with American Idol, again!
DeleteThe computer system in the back of the stage could be rigged very easy. how would we ever know.
ReplyDeleteJohn is a winner and he wont have the stress that comes with the title of American Idol. He will make it on his own and lets hope he gets an honest agent and lawyer.
ReplyDeleteNot watching Idol again will not change how it is run. Let's be more mature just like our Idol John Foster.
ReplyDeleteJohn Foster should have been the winner for sure. Maybe because the talk before the final had declared him the winner, has fans thought that their vote would no make a difference. Just a thought!
ReplyDeleteI thought about him not getting enough votes and here is what I think. John is a total winner, he has all it takes to to begin being a top country singer with no effort. Jamal on the other hand is good but he will still have the struggle to get to the top. I hope he makes it but the Idol will not put him on the top. John on the other hand will have plenty offered contracts to choose from so he will be on top in no time. So it’s going to work out for John so I say to Jamal good luck. This was my thoughts ahead of Sunday night so I was not disappointed at all.
ReplyDeleteJohn Foster writes a lot of his own music. He will go far. He is the best.
ReplyDeleteIt still do not understand why they have the #12 beside John’s name to vote. . He was #13
ReplyDeleteJohn can't wait for your albums to come out. I will be watching. Wisconsin Loves YOU!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm done with Amer
ReplyDeleteJohn won!! This was rigged and everyone knows it. I will never watch American Idol ever again!!! This is what the world is coming too, you all know it!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with those who think the voting was rigged. Same was true when Just Sam won and also Iam Tongi (also Adam Lambert and Jennifer Hudson) just to name a few.
ReplyDeleteJohn I am a great grandmother and have listened to country music all my life. You are definitely lately one of the best and though you didn't win Idol you won God's favor. I had a feeling about Brooks and Dunn from the beginning . Congratulations you are definately a wi ner no matter what. God bless you and keep you . I hope you continue to write beautiful songs.
ReplyDeleteI'm not racist by any means. i do have a mixed family. But I don't know if it was rigged or what. But I do know there was a lot of racism remarks against John. From the Jamal voters, that's the way they are.. If things don't go as plan then racism remarks come out all the time. This country is divided, and we can't have a normal contest without the Left side racialism. So I believe they were intimidated and pressured by it. Even the Judges were blown away by it. This doesn't look good for Idol. I know I won't and my family will ever watch again.
ReplyDeleteBoth singers were great. I think Jamal won with the black voters with his soulful voice, the white voters were split between John and Breanna and their country music or white voice in Breanna’s case.
ReplyDeleteTheir voting numbers were switched, so Jamal got John’s votes. I don’t know why this has not been investigated. And then mysteriously you could not get through to vote for John. EASY
ReplyDeleteI voted for John 30 times because I think he is great and will go on to do great things in his life. He is such a caring person and has a great personality. God bless you John and don’t forget to thank the Lord for the opportunity you have been blessed with!
