A 12-year-old Reseda High School student is dead after a bully threw a metal water bottle at her head 10 days ago, according to the victim’s family.
The girl’s mother, Elma Chuquipa, told KTLA that her daughter Khimberly was attacked by another 12-year-old girl who threw the water bottle at her in a school hallway.
Khimberly was taken to the emergency room for her injuries and was sent home, the family said. Days later she collapsed and was taken to the hospital for a brain hemorrhage, where she later died.
The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the girl’s death as a homicide. Police have not released any more details about the investigation.
A protest was held outside the high school Friday night, where mourners left flowers and demanded justice for Khimberly. Her family has created a GoFundMe page to help pay for her medical bills and funeral expenses. As of Friday night, to GoFundMe has raised more than $13,000.
